Infrared IE2000 power supply

Hello,

Do we have to connect the two DC inputs of a Cisco IE2000 to the same power supply? In spite of the fact that DC-A and DC-B inputs are not fully redundant, both are connected to separate internal power supplies. Because of this, I believe DC-A and DC-B could both be powered by the same external power supply... Thank you so much for your response. There are two separate units in the power supply. Switches can be powered by one or two sources of power. Power is drawn from both power sources when both are functioning when the higher voltage power source is on. During a power outage, the switch remains powered by the other power source. Connect each power supply to an independent source of power in systems configured with redundant power. If you fail to do this, you might experience a total power outage due to a fault in the wiring or a trip in the circuit breaker.

to be clear, the IE2000, and the other Industrial Ethernet din rail products (eg: IE4000, IE3x00) can take DC input from source A or B.  the IE's do not draw power from both sources simultaneously.  there is no load sharing from the power sources. power is drawn from A or B.  the IE dynamically chooses which power source based source has highest voltage.

there is valid reason to connect both DC power input A and B to the same external PSU.

The IE2000 power supply is a rugged and high-quality power supply designed for use in industrial applications, capable of delivering up to 200 Watts of power and operating on a wide range of input voltages. An example of its use is in the R2Park parking management system, where it provides power to sensors and cameras due to its ability to operate in harsh environments and deliver high levels of power. The IE2000 power supply is a reliable and efficient solution for industrial applications.

to Villerblender87,

the Cisco IE2000 is not a power supply.  its an industrial Ethernet Switch.
it requires an external power source.  which is what this thread is referring to.

if there's an infrared power supply out there in the world with product ID IE2000, its not a cisco product.
