4551 - Can't see voice-port 0/1/0:15

Ravs

Level 1

Hi Guys. Please if you can assist me on this. I am trying to configure E1 on the Cisco 4551 but could not get the voice-port 0/1/0:15 on the show run.

Note 1 : Have already tried the pri-group timeslots 1-31 voice-dsp

It will create the voice-port 0/1/0:15 but will not get the L2 on MULTI_FRAME. Its keeps on alternating between TEI and AWAITING.

Note 2 : When I just configure the pri-group timeslots 1-31

It does not create the voice-port 0/1/0:15 but then gets the L2 on MULTI_FRAME.

show run

Does not list voice-port 0/1/0:15

Thus can't finish the Dial Peer configuration.

Hello,

Great.
Yes, that is correct to enable dsp services under voice-card. Usually, a reboot of the router is not required.
Please mark this as Solved and also rate helpful posts.

Thank you.

When you created the PRI controller, it should also have created a serial interface s 0/1/0:15. What does the configuration for that interface read? Have you globally configured an isdn switch-type or done so on the interface?

It would help if you posted a (sanitized) full router config.

If you are using the NIM for voice, you do need the dsp-voice command when creating the pri-group. Please reconfigure that and respost your config, and we can troubleshoot the flapping of the PRI.

First change:

controller E1 0/1/0
pri-group timeslots 1-31 voice-dsp

to just:

controller E1 0/1/0
pri-group timeslots 1-31

Then since your ISDN layer1 is not up make sure you have correct cable connected to provider equipment and run "debug isdn q921" to ensure proper TX and RX between you and the provider.  Has the telco company enabled their side?

Hello Everyone

Please requesting for someone to assist me on this issues.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Chris @Chris Deren :

I am confused about the voice-dsp command.

Integrated Services Routers 4000 Series Digital Voice Configuration Example says:

"Note: NIM-xMFT-T1/E1 - Since the pri-group command on the NIM-xMFT-T1/E1 is only used for voice, the keyword voice-dsp is not needed."

Configuring the Cisco Fourth-Generation T1/E1 Voice and WAN NIM says:

"When you use the pri-group command for voice, then the voice-dsp keyword is required."

Which should we be paying attention to?

Maren

I have never used the commend and have not run into any issues.

Roger that. Thanks.

Thanks a lot guys.

Have removed the pri-group timeslots 1-31 voice-dsp and have put in the pri-group timeslots 1-31

But the voice-port 0/1/0:15 is still not in the show run.

Requesting for further advice.

Hello,

With your controller configuration as,

controller E1 0/1/0
pri-group timeslots 1-31
!

Enable DSP services under voice-card 0/1 as,

voice-card 0/1
dsp services dspfarm
no watchdog
!

Check if the voice-port 0/1/0:15 is created and let us know.

Hope this helps !

-Rohan

Hi guys

Have included the dsp services dspfarm in voice-card 0/1 and did a reload. With pri-group timelosts 1-31 voice-dsp and the voice-port 0/1/0:15 was created.

Please let me know if this is ok.

Thanks a lot for your assistance.

Regards

Ravs.

Adding voice-dsp is a step in the right direction. I had a NIM-2CE1T1-PRI card that was also refusing to create the voice-port until the command was added.
