Hi,

I have a problem with Cisco 7911G phone.

When turn on the the power at the moment the red lights are flashing and after it lights up only one green "Applications Menu".

The display shows nothing.

The phone does not get any address from a DHCP and  TFTP server log is empty.

Is there any way to restore this phone to life?

Best regards,

Daniel

Have you configured your switch the relevant voice vlan config? Where is your dhcp defined? on A server or on the switch?

Hi,

In my local network I have not defined any vlan.

DHCP is defined on my router. In DHCP is set parameter with TFTP serwer IP.

Best regards,

Daniel

You need to define vlans for your phones in your switch...

eg..

int fa0/0

switchport voice vlan 10

switchport mode access

switchport access vlan 20...this is for data vlan

I can set the vlan only on the router.

I set the LAN vlan 10 (192.168.10.0/255.255.255.0) and vlan 20 (192.168.20.0/255.255.255.0) but the phone still does not get an IP address and not connect to the TFTP server.

Hi,

I checked the all settings of vlan on my router but the phone is still "dead".

On the phone is only one green led "Applications Menu" and the display is totaly blank.

I do not have the vlan option on my switch. Is it required?

Maybe there is some other method upload the FW?

Best regards,

Daniel

What type of switch are you using? This is the process an IP Phone use to register

1. The IP Phone obtains power either via POE port or power cube

2. The phone then uses CDP or LLDP-MED (used by non cisco switches) to obtain its VLAN information from the switch..The switch  tell sthe phone which VLAN to use for voice

3. After it has obtaibed its VLAN information, it then uses DHCP to obtain IP address, TFTP server, DNS address etc

4. It then contacts the TFTP server it obtained via DHCP to download its configuration

5. Attemps registration to its Primary Callmanager server.

So if your switch is incapable of providing VLAN information to the phone, then your ip phone cannot work..

I use a SIP server (Asterisk).

3 phones with SIP FW (2x7961G and 1x7911G) are connected to Cisco SRP521W.

Only with 7911G is problem.

Power is from an external cube.

TFTP server is on Windows (TFTPD32)

7961G connects to the TFTP correctly but 7911G no.

Daniel,

Can you check the interface to which the 7911 is connected to is configured ocrrectly...

Use this linki below to check how to setup the vlan on this device..

Have you tried swapping the port that you connected the 7911 to with a port of the 7961..Does it work?

Hi,

The interface to which the 7911 is connected to is configured ocrrectly because the green light comes on LAN.

In the same interface and the nasme cable 7961 works ok.

Originally on SRP521W is vlan1 for data and for voice vlan100.

Accordance with the requirements I set vlan 10 for voice  and vlan20 for data.

I've tested in both configurations, unfortunately 7911G does not get IP from DHCP.

7961G always work properly.

Is there any way to do a hard reset of 7911G? Of course, the display shows nothing (is empty) so I don't have access to the menu.

Best regards,

Daniel
