7915 Expansion module not detected.

Hello All,

I am having a bit of an issue with 2 7915 expansion modules attached to 2 7962's. I have configured speed dials on the phone with the attached expansion modules but the numbers are not displayed. The button at the bottom of the expansion module lights up to indicate power from the phone but nothing is displayed.

I am using call manager 7.1 and these are the loads on it.

7915 12 Button line expansion module- B015-1-04

7962  IP phone- SSCP42.9-0-2.SR1S

This meets the minimum requirements for this version of call manager.

I dont know if anyone can help out here. It would be most appreciated.

Hi Abayomi,

I'll just add a note to the great tips from Leo and Chris (+5 guys )

You may want to look at the Button Template you are using

here as Line buttons 7-16 have been configured as BLF Speeddials

rather than standard Speeddial buttons like button #3.

Cheers!

Hi,

You have to activate the Expansion Module. Go to the device and select the expansion module installed at Expansion Module Information. Then configured some speed dial + Reset the phone.

Regards

Thanks for the reply Leo.

I have done all what you said. i.e. set the module 1 to 7915 12 button expansion module, configured the speed-dials and reset the phones but still no luck. find attached screenshot.s

If you click on the IP address of the phone, does it show load ID under Expansion Module? If not, try resetting the phone, if still does not work validate that the current firmware file is upgradable to the default one specified under device defaults.

Chris

Hi Chris,
Thanks for replying. It's most appreciated. On clicking on the IP of the Phone as requested, I see the expansion module load as B015-1-0-4 and can see the expansion module is detected as the serial number is listed and all but still the speed dial numbers are showing up on the device instead of on the expansion module.
I need to quickly check something. Do you configure the speed dials under device configuration or device profile configuration if you have extension mobility enabled?

Hi Rob,

The button template is Standard 7962G 7915 BLF , which has speed dial under button 3.

I will reconfigure under button 3.

Also with devices configured with extension mobility, i would like to clarify, should the speed dials be configured under the device profile configuration or under the device configuration?

regards

Sorry I forgot to add that the button template has Speed dial BLF under button 7, which is what was previously configured.

Hi Abayomi,

# 3 is the correct one I believe It would be

7 - 16 that need to be reconfigured. I don't think

you are looking for these (7 - 16) to be BLF Speed Dials

but rather "standard" Speed Dials.

You can use the standard template to make a copy from it

and configure the buttons as standard Speed Dials. Then apply

the new template to your phone.

Cheers!

Hi Rob,

Many thanks for your tips.

I would like to confirm that the 7962 load, tnp62.8-3-1-21a.bin whose version is  SSCP42.9-0-2.SR1S will actually work ok. I have configured as you directed using the 3rd line button but still no luck.

Does anyone have the compatibility matrix for the expansion module?
