We have a 7936 unit in a conference room which will randomly:
turn the lights on top of the unit red for a few seconds and then give a loud beep.
Sometimes it's once an hour and other times three times in ten minutes. It's very annoying during meetings as the unit is off and shouldn't be doing anything.
Any idea how to "fix" this behavior?

Try doing factory reset on the phone, most likely its a firmware issue.
