I am getting an error (file auth fail) on 7940 ip phone which i got as the replacement. I have already check blogs on CSC and they are pointing to the firmaware upgrade. the phone shows app load id p00305000101 and in my cucm the device default app id is P00308010200. I think the direct upgrade is not possible. can you please suggest me any other load on which my phone will get register?
I would try and download the 7.2(4) firmware from cisco.com and see if the phone can upgrade to that. If it can then you and upgrade all the way to the default firmware version of your CUCM which is the newest 8.1(2) =
