7960 setting button not working

Hi,

I attached a 7960 to a PoE switch. After booting up a message "tftp file not found" displayed on the screen. I pressed the settings button and tried to see if the phone can get the IP from DHCP but the button seems not functioning. Even I did a factory reset I got the same result.

My understanding is the setting button should be able to let me into the menu to check the configuration once it is power up, right? Or does it needs to load the correct firmware before the the setting button can be functioning?

Any suggestions? Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Regards,

Jacky

Hi Carlo,

I am using 2821 as CME, the version is 3.3. Please see below:

System image file is "flash:c2800nm-adventerprisek9_sna-mz.124-25c.bin"

Router#show telephony-service
CONFIG (Version=3.3)
=====================
Version 3.3

And the firmware in the tftp server is as below:

Directory of flash:/7960/

  138  -rw-      130548  Sep 20 2014 15:25:48 +00:00  P00308010100.bin
  139  -rw-         461  Sep 20 2014 15:26:06 +00:00  P00308010100.loads
  140  -rw-      130952  Sep 20 2014 15:26:22 +00:00  P00308010100.sbn
  141  -rw-      708448  Sep 20 2014 15:26:38 +00:00  P00308010100.sb2

Thanks.

"tftp file not found"

This means DHCP Option 150 is NOT set or set incorrectly.

150 has been configured on the CME. DHCP server was also configured on CME.

My question is : Does the phone need to fully download and install the firmware before the setting button can be functioning?

I watch on youtube and saw some people can get into the config menu by pressing the setting button while the phone was still waiting for the vlan info.
