8945 SCCP firmware upgrade on CUCM 8.6.2.22900-9

Hello All,

 I am trying to upgrade 8945 from SCCP894x.9-2-3-5 to SCCP8941_8945.9-3-2SR1-2. I updated the phone load name and did "apply config" and reset/restart the phone but no luck.

I followed below steps to upgrade the firmware on 8945

1. Upload the file on both pub and sub

2. resart tftp service on both servers

3. Check the phone load name in device defaults

4. Apply the new load name in 8945 phone and then restart it.

When ever i hit reset/restart it just goes to unregistered for few seconds and comes back with registered. I am not onsite and I don't know what I see on the phone.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi Uday,

You cannot upgrade from 9-2-3-5 to 9-3-1x directly by just using the firmware files as detailed in this good note (you will need to install a new device pack);

Note

The Cisco IP Phone 8941 and 8945 support a new “secure by default” feature with Release 9.3(1). Before phones are upgraded to Firmware Release 9.3(1), the Cisco Unified Communications Manager must have Device Pack 8.0.3(24049)/8.5.1(14070)/8.6.2(22030) or higher installed. The phones require this device pack. If the correct device pack is not installed first, the phones cannot successfully register to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

What is the exact phone load name that you have specified in the Phone Load name field on the phone configuration page?
