9971 phone issues (Directories, Call Logs)

StephRoss

Running CUCM 8.5.1

Our 9971 phones (firmware 9-2-1)

are constantly loosing the access to Directories. Resetting corrects temporarily.

Also call logs, missed calls, etc. showing unknown caller id information on internal calls sporadically.

Any advice?  If only option is to upgrade firmware, can anyone tell me how to do that on an individual phone to test it prior to pushing out to all phones?

Hi,

you can refer the link for upgrading IP phone firmware for one single phone without affecting others.

Is there any reason for Cisco TFTP NOT to be running on a subscriber?  We have the publisher and two subscribers.  Cisco TFTP is not started on one of the subscribers, but I don't want to make any assumptions and start it.

What would be the reason to not have that running on a subscriber and could this be affecting other things?

The short version of what that link will say is:

1. Write down the current firmware you have or take a screenshot from Device Defaults.

2. Download the firmware you want to test

3. Upload it to your cluster

4. Paste in the version you noted in step 1 back into device defaults

5. Restart TFTP service on servers in cluster that are running it

6. Find the phone you want to test and specify the version of the new firmware about half way down on Firmware Load prompt/.
