Abbr Dialing Not Working When Phone is Off Hook

Hi Everyone,

I'm having difficulties getting Abbr Dialing working on a Cisco 8851 when it's off hook (Platform is CUCM). If I keep the phone on-hook, dial in the speed call number, and press the Abbr Dial softkey, the call will go through. If I take the phone off hook, press on Abbr Dial softkey, enter the speed call number, the call goes busy. I'm not quite sure why it's working while on-hook but not off-hook. Any ideas?

Off-hook abbreviated dialing is only available when you are on an active call (i.e. when transferring or conferencing an existing call) or when placing an active call on hold.  Outside of those, abbreviated dialing only works when on-hook.
