access & voice vlans

I have only had experience with newer 7961G phones. My experience was to simply make data and voice vlans access vlans on the switch, and the switch uses cdp to place the phone and pc in the correct vlans.

I have alot of 7941 phones and most of the switch configs have the ports forced to trunk with dot1q, in addition to access data and voice vlans. Is this neccessary with these phones? thanks

No, the same acces+voice vlan config should work for all phone models.
