Active Recording

Hi,

We are planning for Active reocrding (Through Duplicate Media Stream) on CUCM. We have chosen 7942 G IP phone. The recording vendor is telling that the phone should be Cisco third generation phone or it has support of BIB (Build in Bridge). I reffered the webesite but not able to confirm that 7942 G is either third generation or support BIB.

Can anyone confirm me that 7942G can support Active Recording (DMS) or i have to go for other Ip phones? Anywebsite link which mention the same will be highly appreciated.

Yes, the 7942 does support recording.  Though it is not listed in the 7.1 Features guide as a 3rd gen phone.  You can confirm this for yourself and your vendor by using the Cisco Unified Reporting tool on your own CUCM cluster:

1. https://cucmserver/ccmadmin

2. login

3. Go to Navigation drop down and choose Cisco Unified Reporting

4. Under System Reports choose "Unified CM Phone Feature List"

5. Click on generate new report

6. In the filter list, choose Product "all", Feature: "Record"

7. Click submit

We would also like to do Active recording, however, when I run the report list, I do not see 7960 is on the list, only 7961. So is that mean 7960 IP phone could not do active recording?

Yes, that is correct. The 7940/7960 phones do not support this feature.

I checked the record feature for the phone i'm trying to record, as well as i checked the BIB feature on the CM.

there seems to be a difference between the two types, aren't we supposed to have a BIB on the phone in order to be able to get the sip messages from the sip trunk on the CM hence we can get the duplicate stream??if not can you please provide me with the an explanation that show the difference between the BIB and the record feature...
