Can anyone assist me with the commands to add the 7916 to a 7965-SIP within a CME system?
thank you!

I don't believe the 7916s work with SIP. You need to use SCCP on CME.

The above link doesn't indicate a SIP compatibility and below was a discussion on how they only work with SCCP as well.

Hi
The link below indicates that 7916 module is also compatible with SIP protocol with firmware at least 8.4(1)
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/collaboration-endpoints/unified-ip-phone-expansion-module-7916/data_sheet_c78-468673.html
On register pool of 7965, try to add a BLF speed dial eg.
voice register pool X
blf-speed-dial 9 1234 label TestSD
..and see what happens.

Thanks Carlo, I did try that earlier but no success as of yet. The side car is still at the Cisco Splash screen (earlier when the phone was in SCCP it did go past the splash screen)
Here’s the config for the voice register pool. Thanks for any help in advance!
voice register pool 25
busy-trigger-per-button 8
id mac E0D1.730A.EB48
type 7965
number 1 dn 25
username lybarra password XXXXXX
description 110 Lisa
codec g711ulaw
no vad
paging-dn 1
blf-speed-dial 7 127 label "127_Sandi"
Thank You,
Steve Davis

Hi Carlo, same results. Still getting a splash screen on the sidecar. Also my firmware is at the latest, 9-4. The firmware for the 7916 appears to be the same, same file with no distinction of SIP or SCCP.

Just so everyone is aware, I ended up moving this back to SCCP. Even though documentation states that it is supported on SIP, the TAC engineer stated the documentation was wrong and it is not. While I don't accept this answer, I also didn't have the time to argue with him and continue to troubleshoot this. Thanks for the help everyone.
