What device type should we use to add a SX20 to CUCM 8.6? I see that there are some device types for C20 but not SX20. Thanks.

Hi,
I think that you have to do the Upgrade from UCSInstall_UCOS_8.6.2.20000-2.sgn.iso to UCSInstall_UCOS_8.6.2.22900-9.sgn.iso
You can upgrade directly from your version to this new version:
8.6(2a)SU2,1,2
8.6.2.22900-9
Direct upgrade:
8.6(2a)SU1, 8.6(2a), 8.6(2),
Your version is 8.6(2a) and my version is 8.6(2a)SU2.
Too, you can add a package for this news devices. You can use:
Release 8.6.2(23047)
http://www.cisco.com/web/software/282074299/95180/cmterm-devicepack-8_6_2_23047-1_Readme.pdf
This package contains the news Telepresence Devices:
Cisco Unified Communications Manager Device Package Release 8.6(2) contains updated device configuration capabilities for the Cisco TelePresence System C, EX, MX, SX, and Profile Series endpoints, as well as the Cisco IP Video Phone E20. To maintain a secure network, Cisco Unified Communications Manager Device Package Release 8.6(2) is required for all networks with TC6 or TE6 installed.

Hi,
SX20 can register in CUCM 8.6 or later:
The firemware is:
SX-Series software to be used with CUCM
cmterm-s52010tc5_1_4_295090.cop.sgn
But I don't understand youir question. You can register SX20 directly to CUCM.

Hi,
SX20 can register in CUCM 8.6 or later:
Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Requires Cisco Unified Communications Manager Version 8.6 or Later) | # • Native registration with Cisco Unified Communications Manager #• Basic Cisco Unified Communications Manager provisioning #• Firmware upgrade from Cisco Unified Communications Manager #• Cisco Discovery Protocol and DHCP option 150 support #• Basic telephony features such as hold/resume/transfer and Corporate Directory lookup |

Auto registration is turned off therefore, you have to configure the device in CUCM for it to register. The first step in configuring a new device is to select the device type. Since there is not an "SX20" option, my question is what device type should we select?

Hi,
What version of CUCM are you using?
I am using a CUCM 8.6.2
To add SX20:
If you haven't this option: you can try using Third Party SIP (Advanced or Basic) or update your CUCM to 8.6.2.

We are using 8.6.2.20000-2. I guess we need to upgrade or is there a device pack that we can add?

We were able to install the latest device pack and did a cluster reboot. After that we are able to add the SX20 to CUCM. Thanks for the help.
