Another DSP Harvesting Question

mmedwid
Level 3
Level 3

I have a 2811 ISR with a voice card.  When I try to create "maximum sessions" for "dspfarm profile 1 conference" it shows a maximum available "0".

I am not using the 4 FXO ports at all and those DSPs are ripe for harvest.  I am not using the T1/PRO port. When I run show voice dsp active I see hundreds of "edsp"s associated with g729r.  I have no idea what those are about.  How can I get to when I have say four conference and eight transcode sessions? How have I squandered my resources?? I have other similar ISRs with say 8 transcode sessions, four conferences.

Cisco 2811 (revision 53.51) with 241664K/20480K bytes of memory.

Processor board ID xxxxxxx

2 FastEthernet interfaces

1 Gigabit Ethernet interface

1 Serial interface

2 terminal lines

1 Channelized/Clear T1/PRI port

2 Virtual Private Network (VPN) Modules

4 Voice FXO interfaces

2 Voice FXS interfaces

1 cisco service engine(s)

DRAM configuration is 64 bits wide with parity enabled.

239K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.

250880K bytes of ATA CompactFlash (Read/Write)

You have just one PVDM2-16 DSP module, part of which is being used for transcoding session. Hence you are not able to assign sessions to conference profile since conference requires one complete DSP resource(16 channels). You will need to add more DSP resources in the router to help you out in this scenario.

Hope that helps

Without knowing how many DSPs,  kind of PVDMs you have and where they're located none of the info you provided helps.

CFB requires a whole DSP for it to work, unless the 16 channels are available for use you'll get the 0 option for sessions.

Oooh - I see.  My other router that I thought had the same DSP configuration actually has an additional PVDM2-64.  We had bought these ISRs a while back and in my mind's eye they were all configured alike.  But clearly not!

dspfarm profile 2 transcode

(codecs)

maximum sessions 8

associate application SCCP

!

dspfarm profile 1 conference

(codecs)

maximum sessions 4

associate application SCCP

Haha.. i see...Happens to the best of us...
