I have tried several freebies but havent had much luck when it comes to recording au file formats. Adobe Audition 30 day trial works just great.

Audacity is good for this. But it is only for *nix

Oreka?  I use it, it does great.  It records in these formats:  native, gsm, ulaw, alaw, pcmwav
