Dears ,

we are having branches connected to our HO through Data connetion  terminated on our (Firewall, WAN interface )  , all branches having Phones and faxes registerd to our CUCM version 7.1 through the data connection , few days back a problem occured , all faxes in the branches are not able to send and revieve faxes , only head office faxes are working , (phones  in the branches can send and recieve calls  wihtout any issue )

our setup is :

branches are  connected to our HO ASA like the below

Laye 3 Switch > ISP Router (for data Connection) > HO ISP router conected to  HO WAN Switch (layer2 switch ) >connected to  HO ASA > on WAN interface

WAN Interface IP 1.1.2.1 /24

we have done the following troubleshooting steps :

NOTE : all of our faxes having the same firmware version and they are same the same model ATA 186

1 - we have checked that all branch  faxes and phones are still registerd  with our CUCM == registerd without any problem

2-  call the  fax number from mobile and calling my mobile from the fax machine in branch ==working fine

3- try to send fax from branch to HO over internal  extension == fail to send /communcation error

4- tried to send fax between two fax machines on the same branch by using internal Extension only === send succefully

5- connect analog phone to the ATA port and doing incoming and outgoing calls normally without any issue .

5-  back to back test with the FW >>connect ATA 186 on the WAN switch and assign the ATA a static IP from the same range of the FW  as the below :

FW WAN Interface IP : 1.1.2.1

ATA 186 IP : 1.1.2.2 >Gateway >1.1.2.1

option 150 192.168.1.1 our CUCM

fax was registerd succfully with CUCM but was not able to send\recieve fax   which confirm that the problem from our firewall ,  please advise  what i need to check exactly on our firewall ?

Hello,

Which mode are you using for fax transmission ~ Fax pass-through or T38 fax relay mode?

Have you tried capturing logs on the FW? Can you trace T38 packet drops if any?

HTH,

Regards,

AN
