Hi,

To define the beginning of the set (12) the next backslash defines the of
the set. (12\). Therefore, when you call the set, you call it using its
order in the rule as \1 which represents \(12\).

A backwards slash is an escape character that tells the system to not interpret the next character as part of the special characters that exist in voice translations. In this specific case it’s as @Mohammed al Baqari wrote it defines the start of the slice of what to copy into a variable that can be used on the right hand side, aka on the replace site of the rule.

FYI The outcome of your rule would be 61245 if the incoming number is exactly 12345.
