Be4k with fxs

Hello dears,

I was looking at the Be4k datasheet and it says it supports 200 device registrations. An ATA acts as a 2 devices so ises 2 device registrations.

Have these questions:

1. How do we connect the fax machines if there are 30 fax machines? Would that require 15 ATAs 191 model (it has two standard FXS ports)?

2. Would that same setup apply if there are 60 analog phones (requiring 30 ATAs)?

Thanks in advance!

Ton.

I can't speak to the BE4K itself, but yes, an ATA is registers each port to the system, so it looks like two different devices. How many ATAs you need is based on a few factors, not just counts, but counts of devices is one factor. E.g., 30 devices = 15 ATA. However, also consider the cable run distance, so if you have 30 sites, each with 1 fax machine, then a single ATA couldn't possibly serve two devices. You'd need 30 ATAs.

Thanks Anthony!

How about the VG series for bigger capacity for the analog phones, would that work same logic (connect to the BE4k/6k) as the ATA that only has 2 FXS ports?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Ton,

If you need good capacity of Analog ports , you can use VG 310 and 320 which is the best option.

The Integration option would SCCP or SIP.

For SCCP you will have to add the gateway as Endpoint and all Analog ports will be registered on CUCM. There will be less configuration on Analog gateway in case of SCCP.

For SIP Integration , you will have to configure SIP trunk in CUCM towards Analog gateway and ports and dial-peer configuration will be done on Analog gateway.

Call Flow for SIP Integration== PSTN GW>>SIP/H323>> CUCM>>SIP Trunk>>Analog GW

Hi Hari,

Are PRI channels configurable on a BE4k with a T1 card inserted?

Thanks in advance!
Ton

Hi Raid,

You can configure up to 2 PRI/BRI/FXO/FXS with BE4K.

Refer Datasheet link given below.
