Hello,
I am working with a client that is looking to block inbound calls based on caller ID. I am aware of a method to do this on voice gateways using translation profiles and also aware of how to do this in CUCM using translation patterns that route the next hop based on caller ID. The voice gateway method is not scalable and the CUCM method is scalable but somewhat messy. Is anyone aware of a way that we can have the voice gateway or CUCM query an XML or another type of list for numbers that should be blocked?

You probably want to investigate External Call Control Profiles & the CURRI API.

There are already some 3rd party apps that use the External Call Control Profile to do what you're asking.
