I Understands that VIC is a 1st gen interface and VIC2 or VIC3 are supporterd for ISR Routers..But still now am in a design responsibility, I want to know

the scenarios when we have to use the below euipments? Its based up on the no of ports we required or any QOS is differs?

when we need ATA BoX,When we can use VG224 and when the Blackbox Patch Panel with EVM

Regards,

Bala

Hi ,

The functions for these devices can vary so i will try and summarise.

ATA's typically provide a couple of ports , good if you need to put the odd analogue phone here and there.Beware of adding faxes though as they only really work reliably up to 9600

VG224 - If you need to provide alot of analogue devices in a central office then use these.Offer more features than the ATA and more ports

EVM. I use these for branch sites where you typically already have a branch router so you don't need any rack space.

This is only a summary , i would check the data sheets on each device to make sure it offers what you require.
