Busy Lamp Field for Jabber

Thinking with the old TDM PBX mindset as I often do, is there a way within Jabber or as a separate app to show the status of other lines? Simply a green meaning idle, red indicating in use. I tried copying an existing Phone Button Template, but I'm not sure if a BLF 'Speed Dial' would provide the desired result. And, when I it, the template is not available as a choice in the Jabber device. I used this method:

Step 1

From Cisco Unified CM Administration, choose Device > Device Settings > Phone Button Template.

Step 2

Click the Add New button.

The Phone Button Template Configuration window appears.
Step 3

In the Button Template Name field, enter a name for the template.

Step 4

From the Phone Button Template drop-down list, select a template of phone button.

Step 5

Click Copy to create a new button template based on the layout of the selected button template.

Step 6

Click Save.

And - in the Jabber device there's only a few templates available. Working with mine, it's Standard Client Services Framework. I see the 'Jabber Test Template' I created, but when I did that by copying another, the only item that's present is Line, and I can't add anything else. Maybe the template must be designated that it's specifically for Jabber? I have a customer that would like to have just Jabber, but only if other lines could be monitored as they are now on the 8841 phone.

There's likely a lot more to this even if I could add a BLF, I see that that the watcher must be authorized to monitor the related destination of a SIP URI. But, since BLF always seems to include Speed Dial in descriptions and examples. I don't even know if this is what I should look into. The goal is to just see the status of a few other DNs. These may or may not be on Jabber devices, but only phones. That may prohibit the desired results as well.

Jabber uses a contact list where you’d see the presence of each contact. If the contact is busy in a call you’ll see that.

as dear @Roger Kallberg said, jabber not support BLF as way you described..
BLF is for physical desk phones for e.g. like 7900,7800,8800 series and etc..

also, you can install Cisco CUP (imp) to your CUCM cluster,
so jabber user be able to check presence + chat + send file, with other users..

It would be great if a basic BLF forJabber was available, or a standalone desktop app. Simply extension numbers with a corresponding 'light' to indicate status.

test "CIPC" (Cisco IP Communicator) software for windows,
which is working as almost exactly a Cisco Desk phone (BLF also supported on it)..

but it's not recommend to use it on Enterprise workspace
it is mainly for Test Lab space..

Ok, good to know, thanks.
