Call Forward All to a phone without Voicemail, How to Return to original Voicemail

Jacob-Harris

Hey everyone..

Looking for a way to setup the ability to call forward all from Line A to Line B, and allow Line A's Voicemail to pop if nobody answers line B after lets say 4 rings.  The catch is.. Line B is a lobby/shared space phone without voicemail, and normally we'd like it to just ring and not go to voicemail.

Any ideas on how to do this?  Other than just temporarily setup Line B to forward to voicemail?

Thanks,

The default behavior is that you'll reach the original called number VM, in this case A, even if you FW to other DN(s).

Problem is, someone has to send the call to VM.

You need to either configure a VM profile on that line or set the call forward to the hunt pilot for VM.

Thanks Java,

I was thinking this was the answer.. just hoping someone had figured out a way to make this easier...

The use case is more of a user moving from location A to Location B.. using the CFwdAll button on her phone in A and pointing it at a shared phone in location B.  The shared phone doesn't have voicemail and just rings.  No admin intervention is required in this mode.. but it sounds like we would have to enable voicemail on the shared phone (even if it doesn't have a mailbox) or this won't work.

Hi Jacob,

You wouldn't have to configure voicemail on phone B (the shared phone)

it would just need to forward to voicemail at some point for users A's greeting/mailbox to pop up

Cheers!

Rob

Why not just add the VM profile to phone B as Rob has stated, then configure the forwarding to voicemail on NO answer/busy and setup the extension on Phone b as an alternate extension to phone A voicemail account.  This way it will forward to the same voicemail and the user can get his or her voicemail from either place since you said this person will be moving...

HI,

Try deleting the lobby phones voicemail account and assign the lobby phones DN as an associate number to Line B's voicemail account.

All great suggestions guys.. I will likely end up just turning on the voicemail forwarding option for the DN on the shared phone.. without having a voicemail box configured.

The only thing i'll add to finish up the convo is that this isn't just a one person use case.. its more for mobile employees  who want to switch to a different office other than their main office once in a great while.. so they just forward their phone.. and yes.. we should use extension mobility,, just not there yet..

Thanks!
