Can anyone confirm that when using MLPP on Cisco Call Manager 8.6 whether the default ring tone for precedence calls can be customised?
Our vendor has advised us this is not possible, however from a business point of view this is far from optimal. Currently the ring tone is chirp2 and we are after something a bit more attention grabbing so the staff in the control room know there is a potential emergency call.
Background: I work for an organisation which has two main offices which each have a control room which is always manned by two staff, and we have approximately 20 satellite sites which may be manned on unmanned depending on the time of day. For each of these sites there are a number of hazards which exist (chemicals & heavy machinery), and as such when a certain extension (or 111 (equiv to 911 here in New Zealand)) is dialed from any of these sites the call is diverted to our control room who take down the details of the issue and will then place an emergency call.
The ring tone cannot be customized on an IP phone for different precedence calls. The icon on the display of the phone will show differently for a higher precedence call as well as the ring will be slightly different.
"If you hear a special ring (faster than usual) or special call-waiting tone, you are receiving a priority call. An MLPP icon on your phone screen indicates the priority level of the call."
