Call Pickup Group - Audio Alert

Steve Baker

Hi,

I was just wondering if there is any way to change / replace the audio alert for call pickup groups. Our help desk often has their call pickup group configured to use an audio and visual alert. Unfortunately we've had a few users complain that the audio alert is annoying and we were wondering if we can change it to something more simple such as a beep.

CUCM 10.5

Thanks

Steve

The Audio Alert for the Call Pickup Group is actually using the Call Back Notification.  This file is the Callback.raw file.

You can change this file to be something you feel is more suitable for your environment.  It is just like creating a customized ring tone for the IP Phone.

Below are the file requirements:

PCM File Requirements for Custom Ring Types
The PCM files for the rings must meet the following requirements for proper playback on Cisco IP Phones:
Raw PCM (no header)
8000 samples per second
8 bits per sample
Ulaw compression
Maximum ring size-16080 samples
Minimum ring size-240 samples
Number of samples in the ring evenly divisible by 240
Ring starts and ends at the zero crossing.

To create PCM files for custom phone rings, you can use any standard audio editing packages that support these file format requirements.

After you upload the file to the TFTP, then change the Service Parameter in Call Manager / Advanced.

Call Back Notification Audio File Name :  This parameter specifies the name of the audio file that Cisco IP Phones play when a called party that has been marked for call back becomes available. The default file contains a "twinkle" sound. This file must be located in the TFTP directory (/usr/local/cm/tftp). Use the Cisco Options Installer method for copying .raw files to the tftp directory. Audio Format: 64-kbits per second audio mu-law. .

Note: Audio alert will change for call pick and call back feature.

Hello Mohammed, Thats a very useful hint!

Is there any chance that you know which is the file that is used for the BLF call pickup audio notification? '

Unfortunatelly, the "beep-only" audio notification is not so distinctive and I would like if possible to change it to an audio notification that could be easily notify the user.

Thanks in advance,

G
