Call Recording Using CUBE Media Forking

Hi,

I have received a request to set call recording for a small number of phones. The customer wants to use a 2901 router to handle the media forking. The recoder server is unknown at present but it will not be MediaSense. 

CUCM ver 11.5, 2091 ios version and feature set unknown at this time.

My questions are:

Are there any licensing requirements for the router? Will they need the UC feature set? Will they need CUBE licensing?

What are the maximum number of recoding sessions? I am assuming XMF config on the router but have not used this set up before.

You need to have a UC license to run voice feature set on router. You would also need CUBE RTU license.
Next, from a recording perspective, you have network based recording (NBR)/SIPREC. You can think of this as a dial-peer based recording. CUCM is not involved in forking.
XMF requires CUCM to register to CUBE as an XMF application. CUCM will send a forking request to CUBE with recording server IP and port.

If a gateway is terminating 48 SIP trunks, are additional CUBE licenses required for the forking?

Example would be 48 SIP trunks terminating on the voice gateway and the CR server utilizing the 2vCPU OVA thus a maximum of 25 concurrent recording sessions.

Would the gateway require 48 + 25 = 73 total CUBE licenses?

CUBE licensing is session dependent wherein one session would equal one audio or video call traversing CUBE irrespective of the number of the calls legs. No additional licenses are required for recording sessions. A session b/w CUBE and a recording server does not count towards CUBE license limits but you should keep in mind the platform capacity though.

We have just completed integrating our blueButler recording software with CUBE SIPREC and use JTAPI to provide the supplemental meta-data to match recorded sessions to the correct phones/users. It is deployed in both a regular HA environment and also in an HCS configuration.

Hi

In the attached link, one of the restrictions for XMF is that 

• High Availability is not supported.

What is the implication? Does that mean that when hot standby take over, the XMF registration will fail and CUCM will fall back to BiB or will recording be lost?
