Caller ID through 2811 on FXO Port

Josh Gross

have a Cisco 2811 with a VIC2-4FXO card and one analog line provided by my telco. I am trying to get the caller id sent by the telco to show up on an ip phone that is registered to my Call manager version 7.1. The gateway is configured as H323 and caller-id enabled has been configured on the port. When I debug vpm signal i can see that the caller id is there but unknown name, unknown number always displays on the phone. I have attached a copy of the debug vpm signal output and the configuration on the port. I have also attached an analog phone and it displays the caller id after the first ring. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

From your trace the incoming call is on voice port 0/2/0:-

000375: *Dec 12 14:03:37.643: [0/2/0] get_fxo_caller_id calling num=2085555555 calling name=My Company calling time=12/12 14:03

From your config voice port 0/2/0 is NOT H323 it is MGCP controlled:-

!
!
voice-port 0/2/0
trunk-group PSTN_911
no battery-reversal
input gain -6
echo-cancel coverage 24
timing hookflash-out 50
connection plar 31100
caller-id enable
!
!
dial-peer voice 999020 pots
service mgcpapp
port 0/2/0
!

As far as I am aware Caller-ID on FXO using MGCP does not work:-

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_tech_note09186a008017825e.shtml#task6

•Caller ID does not work on FXO ports. This is because caller ID is not supported with FXO ports when configured for MGCP. Configure the gateway in H.323 mode instead.

If the router is in fallback mode IE SRST it should have fallen back to
the the default H323 application

You could try adding :-

!
voice-port 0/2/0
caller-id alerting ring 1
!

But this looks like it will only be supported in H323 not MGCP

Hey Guys,

Just as an FYI - CLID support for MGCP-FXO ports was added in CUCM 8.x

Caller ID Support on MGCP FXO Gateways

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/rel_notes/8_0_1/delta/cmadmin.html#wp1115153

Cheers!
