CallManager 4.2 License Count

We are in the process of upgrading from Call Manger 4.2 to 8.0.  I would like to find out how many licenses we are using on the existing system, so I'll know how much we'll have to spend on upgraded licensing before making the jump.  There's no license report in 4.2 like there is in 5, 6, and 7.  Does anyone have and idea how I can generate a license report in Call Manager 4.2?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can't, the whole concept of licensing with DLUs and licensing reports does not exist in anything below CUCM 5.0

If you need to migrate those licenses because you're doing a CUCM 8.0 fresh install reach licensing (licensing@cisco.com) so they provide you a spreadsheet you need to fill with data from your current config.

When you will upgrade to CUCM 8.0, the system will automatically generate a temp license based on the number of phones and phone types registered to the CUCM 4.2 system. Then, you should send an email to licensing to convert it to a permanent license.

Upgrading Product Licenses

When you upgrade from supported Cisco Unified CallManager Manager 4.x  releases, the system calculates the licenses that are required for  existing devices and nodes and generates an intermediate file (XML file)  that contains this information. You use this file to obtain license  files that you can upgrade into Cisco  Unified Communications Manager Administration. You receive these  licenses free of cost because you are already using these phones for a  Cisco Unified CallManager 4.x release.

As an alternative, you can obtain your product license directly from  DMA. This enables you to have the license file immediately and not wait  to receive it through e-mail.

True, however there is no direct upgrade path to 8.0 from any 4.X version, so there is no DMA.

In order to use that, it requires a 2 hop upgrade.
