CallManager service showing Activated Not Running

James Hawkins

Hi,

I am building a CUCM 11.5(1)SU2 cluster which has seven CUCM servers:

Dedicated Publisher (Site A)

Primary Call Processing (Site A)

Backup Call Processing (Site A)

TFTP (Site A)

Primary Call Processing (Site B)

Backup Call Processing (Site B)

TFTP (Site B)

The CallManager and CTIManager services are only enabled on the call processing servers.

I am having an odd issue where these services have been activated on the Primary Call Processing (Site A) server but they are not running.

The Control Center - Feature Services output for these services is shown below.

The replication status for all servers is showing as good.

Does anyone have an idea what is going on here or how to troubleshoot it? - I have rebooted the cluster but still get the same result.

Do you see them running on CLI??

You can indeed have services which you activated, but you don't have them running, that combo is possible.

Hi Jaime,

They are shown as not running in the CLI. I am not at the site at the moment but will get a utils service list output when I go back tomorrow.

The services show as below in the CLI:

Cisco CTIManager[STOPPED] Component is not running
Cisco CallManager[STOPPED] Component is not running

What troubleshooting steps can I take with this?

I have not installed any licenses yet so maybe I will look at that.

The utils service list output is shown below:

You can try changing the secure mode to permissive and then try starting these services in CLI. and then may be you can put it in enforcing.

See if that helps.

Devan.

HI all,

any news here? I have the same problem and dont know how to solve it. When we try to stop the Service via the control Center - Network Services the stop button is not active so that you can stop the Service. Also to Change the secure mode to permissive is not a solution.

Any news?

best regards,

Cristina

Hi Christina,

I deleted then rebuilt the Subscriber server which solved the issue.

James

HI all,

to open a TAC case was the solution for me. They delete some files via root on the Server, afterwards, they restart the tomcat Service and the Cisco Admin Service is running again.

many thanks.

cristina

Hi Cristina,

You may try the following options:

>> deactivate the service and reactivate it

>> reboot the server

>> use the recovery iso ( can be downloaded from cisco.com for your respective cucm version ) and boot the server using the recivery iso to fix any file system errors

If nothing works and you don't intend to open a TAC case then a server rebuild like James did will help.

Hi James,

Can you select the service click on Stop if its giving you an option and then click on Start again.

If not Go to service activation unactivate the service and activate the service again to see if it makes any difference.
