Calls from one caller dropping

sdonnelly41
Level 1
Level 1

Currently running a Cisco 2811 with CUCM 9.1.2, but the calls do not make it to CUCM. I can see in the logs of the router the following. I have confirmed with AT&T (the user calling from his mobile) and our provider that their end looks good, or so they say it is. Below is an entry from a debug I am running, but I am not positive on what the failure is. Can anyone provide some insight? Thank you!

Hi,

You say you have one PRI being delivered to the box but you have two controllers configured.  Which controller do you use?

controller T1 0/0/0
framing esf
linecode b8zs
pri-group timeslots 1-24
!
controller T1 0/0/1
framing esf
linecode b8zs
pri-group timeslots 1-24
!

Normally Trunk Groups are only useful on Outbound Dial Peers to direct calls to either line in case of failure or in the case of BRI's where you have a number of lines limited to two calls.  You wouldn't normally specify them on inbound Dial-Peers as the router doesn't care which line the call comes in on.

I would try removing the Trunkgroup PRI statement from all of your Inbound Dial-Peers initially.

Thanks
Rob

Hi,

We will need to see some configs from your router.  Is it MGCP or H.323?

Thanks
Rob

H.323 and config is below. One thing I noticed is that there is a trunk group, but there's only 1 PRI being delivered to this location. Should I remove the trunk group pri?

Hi,

You say you have one PRI being delivered to the box but you have two controllers configured.  Which controller do you use?

Normally Trunk Groups are only useful on Outbound Dial Peers to direct calls to either line in case of failure or in the case of BRI's where you have a number of lines limited to two calls.  You wouldn't normally specify them on inbound Dial-Peers as the router doesn't care which line the call comes in on.

I would try removing the Trunkgroup PRI statement from all of your Inbound Dial-Peers initially.

Thanks
Rob

controller T1 0/0/0 is the active PRI. I will remove the config for the trunk group, I asked around it seems like 2 PRI's were never a thing here so I am not quite sure why this has been configured this way...

Hi,

Did you manage to sort this in the end?

Thanks

Rob

Sorry for the delayed response! Though I could not see anything in real time data in RTMT I found through trace logs that the call was being dropped because the user had been setup with a remote destination profile, but it was not fully setup. This in turn caused the call to drop. I completed the setup, and now the user can call in without issue.

Thank you for your help!

Hi,

I have just noticed that your TrunkGroup isn't going to work anyway.  One of your Serial-Ports isn't a member of the Trunk Group and the other belongs to a group called "Trunk-Group PRI 2".

interface Serial0/0/0:23
no ip address
isdn switch-type primary-ni
isdn incoming-voice voice
isdn supp-service name calling
no isdn outgoing display-ie
no isdn outgoing ie redirecting-number
no cdp enable
!
interface Serial0/0/1:23
no ip address
isdn switch-type primary-ni
isdn incoming-voice voice
isdn supp-service name calling
no isdn outgoing ie redirecting-number
trunk-group PRI 2
no cdp enable
!

If you are only using one Controller and therefore one Serial Port, I would point the Outbound Dial-Peers to the specific Voice port.

In your case either,

port 0/0/0:23

or

port 0/0/1:23

The inbound dial-peers don't need a trunk group or port reference.

Thanks
