can B-series use a NAS rather than SAN for data

I wish to stage a B-series UC on UCS solution in a standalone environment with a NAS and once tested, implement into production with a SAN.

Q - can a NAS be used for data store?

Q - how would the NAS to SAN file structure be copied with indexing?

It depends on what you're asking.

VMWare can use NAS as datastore.  This is vendor/model neutral.

However, running Cisco UC (Unified Communications) on NAS might not be supported by Cisco TAC.  (that doesn't mean it won't work).

Hope this helps!

yes, Cisco do not support it. UC on UCS requires fibre channel with SAN. I understand the NAS file stucture and communication system is quite different. How can this be configured to work and secondly to transfer the data (which includes OS) to SAN later? thanks.
