I installed my Cisco IP Communicator (8.6.2.0) on a win7 pc. The communicator sent dhcp inform to get tftp server address, and my dhcp server gave right address in option 66. The problem is that the communicator always use the DHCP server address as the tftp server. All other phones such as 7942, 7975, and etc can get tftp address. When I tried to specify a tftp address, I couldn't because the field was greyed out.

You just need to open the ip commicator as administrator and you will be able to specify the tftp ip address.
Rate if it helps.
