Can't modify user display name

Cisco Call Manager 9.1(2)

 

I am unable to change the name on a existing phone. New user is assuming an exiting user. Seems like this should not be that hard so I modified the exiting users ID and it shows changed in the directory but the display on the phone is still showing the old users name.

Changing the number from the end user will change it in the directory. To change it from display you need to do this from the DN in the phone or UDP
