can u format a cisco compact flash card without a cisco router

Evening Guys,

Searched forum for answer but couldnt find anything

Want to format a 256 mb cisco CF card. Unfortunately my existing slot0 external slot appears to be dead as the LED for this does not light up

Is there an alternative workaround please

I have a card reader if that can be used....

In summary

Cisco 18xx  you can use MS-DOS fat 16
Cisco 28xx, 38xx you can use MS-DOS fat 16 or 32
Cisco 19xx ,29xx, 39xx you can use MS-DOS fat 32

Insert the flash in a switch and format or any other router.
