hi

i have 2 7825 ibm MCS's one for Pub and the other for Sub, and each one has 2 NICs, my question is how the config for the 2 NiCs should be? active-active?, acive-standby?

what about the IP's, should each NIC have different IP or same IP?!

please advise

Hi,

I think that the UC 5.X doesn't have NIC TEAM support. This is a Server feature.

Maybe in the next version.

You can do active standby type nic failover.

From CLI, type the following command,

set network failover enable.

so, do i need to configure an ip for the second NIC, or just when it becomes active it takes the primary ip automatically?

You only need the IP for the primary NIC. From my experience, once the failover is configured, the bonded nic assumes the ip of the nic with configured ip.

this what i have to make sure ... thanks and here is 5 !!

I also notices the mac address moved over as well, the mac address stays the same regardless of which nic is used.
