CCM 8.5 - Open LDAP integration, 'phone number' field issue

Andrea Morici

Hi All,

I'd like to ask your support/advice for the following 'strange' behavior we're facing.

As reported by "Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration Guide, Release 8.5(1)", LDAP Directory Configuration section, the 'Phone Number'

field should be selectable between two values, namely 'telephoneNumber' and 'ipPhone'.

Here comes the issue: CCM doesn't give us any choice since 'telephoneNumber' is fixed and cannot be changed.

Is there any limitation related to the specific LDAP DB we're selecting (Microsoft, Open LDAP, etc...) or is there something else we're missing ?

... attached you can see a couple of screenshots to have a better view of what we're talking about ;-)

Thanks a lot !

- Andrea

Hi Andrea,

I think you are seeing this restriction;

Hi,

If you want to change the telephoneNumber field on an already defined LDAP system in CUCM, you will need to delete it first. Once you delete it and then re-add it, you can then change the field to IPPhone field.

Once you configure a LDAP system type, the field you choose cant be altered unless you delete and re-configure it

Hi and thanks for your reply !

... unfortunately this is a brand new installation and we have no already defined LDAP system/integration.

What we noticed is that the only LDAP Systems, which allows you to select 'ipPhone' as the 'Phone Number value', are Microsoft's ... if you pick up Open LDAP instead, there's no choice (the drop down list doesn't show at all).

From this perspective, it really looks like a software limitation when using non Microsoft LDAP servers.

Yes I agree probably open LDAP does not support IPPhone field

... at least from LDAP docs, it looks this system should support the IPPhone field ... probably there's something wrong in the way this application and CCM exchange related data so it has been removed/limited.

Thanks anyway !
