I bought a a Voice-enabled Cisco 2821 ISR Router for my Cisco CCNA Voice Collaboration LAB loaded with Cisco Unified CUCME/CME 8.6 (Call Manager Express) and CCP 2.7.IOS version is Mainline 15.1.4.M10 Adv. Enterprise Services (c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.151-4.M10.bin)
This Router includes the following Voice Cards and Modules:
- FXO Analog Card (needed to make Phone Calls outside the LAN)
- FXS Analog Card (needed to connect an Analog Phone)
- PVDM2 Module (needed to enable both Voice Cards)
I got everything working with my LAN Switch creating a LAN-based Phone Network.
All configurations for Inbound and Outbound Rule are all working.
The "connection" command for the Inbound Rule specifies a private-line, automatic ring doqwn (PLAR) connection, off premise connection (OPX) and to forward the incoming call from PSTN to the extension number say 2001.
In other words, if someone is calling my PSTN Phone number at home say 415-810-2907, the call is forwarded to extension 2001.
Is it possible for a single PSTN line ( not a DID trunk ) since this is just for Lab PURPOSES to call the extension number directly without dialing the the 415-810-2907? I mean I will dial 415-810-2001 instead of my landline 415-810-2907. If so how will I configure my router?
Thanks and regards,
Jerry S.

Hi
looks like you are using FXO ... then whatever call is ringing on this FXO port it will be routed to the number specified in the connection plar command under the voice port.
The Only way is to have the Analog Line from service provider with the same last 4 digits as your extension to call it ... but you will have to add a connection plar command under the voice port again...
Cheers,
M

yes, you are right. Though I got all my objectives using my lab kit with 2 analog phones connected to my fxs ports, pstn line to fxo port and the 2 Cisco IP Phones Phones .
Out of curiosity, would it be possible to call the extensions lines be it analog phones or the ip phones directly instead of the analog line telephone number? Is there any configuration to link the analog line # with the extensions number that instead of dialing the analog phone number, you can dial directly the extension number.
Thanks.

Hi Mekeniabe,
i guess that you need to add analog phone connected to FXS Port into your cucm cluster ...
Then you need to configure it with an extension in CME or CUCM server but using this way your analog phones wont be part of PSTN Phones and you will not use FXO Ports ..
Please Post your configuration to understand the scenario ..

Hi Mohannad,
I am just starting studying CCNA Voice ( self study ) and I do really appreciate you for your time in replying to my query. Thank you so much. Below is the configuration which I deleted some of the part which is not necessary in my questions.
When a call comes in on the FXO port, it is sent to pilot 2001 (ephone-dn 50) which is configured as the 2nd button on the two phones ( 2:50 ). The two Cisco Phones will then ring simultaneously.
Therefore, If I make a call from my cellphone and dial my PSTN line ( see attached diagram ) 1-415-756-3864, the call is routed both on the 2 IP Phones, ext's 1001, 1002.
Just for curiosity or further studies, is there a configuration on this router to dial directly the extension numbers , e.g. 1001 and 1002 instead of dialing the pstn line # 1-415-756-3864.
say I can dial 1-415-756-1001 directly or 1-415-756-1002 if I want.
Thanks.

The only you could dial 1-415-756-1001 or 1-415-756-1002 from outside network (your cellphone/PSTN) is by getting those numbers from your service provider.
Internally, you can achieve this by translation rules.
