Changes to call history for hunt groups in 8800 series version 14

Hello,

We recently upgraded a portion of our 8800 series phones to the version 14 firmware from 12.8 (sip88xx.12-8-1-0001-455 to sip88xx.14-0-1-0201-171 to be exact). We have noticed that the behavior of the call history log for hunt group calls has changed. Previously, the call history would show the caller ID name and calling number. Now, it displays the calling number and the name of the hunt group, and the caller ID name is hidden away in the details page.

This also appears in the release notes for 14.0(1): The Hunt Group label now includes the term Hunt group followed by the Hunt group number or name. This improvement helps you identify Hunt Group calls, and it is included in the Received call list, the All calls list, and Call details.

My users HATE this change. They don't care what hunt group a call came in on, 99% of the calls they answer are for the hunt. In the rare event they did need to find out, it was available in the call details page. What they need to be able to see is who called and when - they rely on the caller ID name to find the correct call in their history. Needing to visit the call details for every call when searching for a particular call in their history really hampers their workflow.

Is there any kind of option that can be set, a workaround, a service parameter, etc. that will return the call history display to its previous behavior for hunt group calls? We do like some of the enhancements in this version, but this is a big nasty pain point for our end users.

Thanks

I'd take a look at your CUCM to find out if there's something related, but in many cases, the changes made by the phone team are not configurable either on the device itself or centrally from CUCM, if that's the case, you would need to submit a PER via your AM/SE explaining the business case as to why this should be either removed, modified, or made configurable so it can be considered for a future release.

In the meantime, your only option, if it's indeed not configurable, would be to choose to either keep on 14.x or go back to 12.8
