Hi,

I am trying to change the Firmware to SIP on one of our Cisco 7911 Phones. I booted the phone and did the usual factory rest by pressing # then 123456789*0#

Now the phone tries to upgrade the firmware but then reboots.

What am i doing wrong please?

Thanks

If you want to post the XML file and a file/folder listing of the TFTP server I'll take a quick look. Also what GET requests does the phone make to the TFTP server?

Not to sound dismissive but you're on the edges of what people will typically assist with on these forums. The knowledge here centers around how to make the endpoint work with the Cisco call control products. Since Cisco doesn't support or publicly document what you're attempting to do the instinctive reaction from most here will be to say 'not supported; have a nice day'. That's why sites such as voip-info.org exist.

What product: CUCM or CME? What server-side actions have you taken?

 What product: CUCM or CME

None, we are wanting to use SIP not Skinny.

I have setup TFTP and set option 66 in the DHCP. On the TFTP server i can see that the phone is communicating

Thanks

Ah, sounds like you're trying to use this with a third-party SIP proxy/registrar? If that's the case you probably want to go look at voip-info.org; the answers here are usually limited to making a phone work with the Cisco call control products (both CUCM and CME support SIP phones in current releases).

At a very high level: You'll need the appropriate firmware package and then to build the XML file so the phone knows what firmware files to download. Once that's done you would then need another XML file to tell it about the SIP Proxy. Note that the phone is not strictly RFC3261 compliant; it uses a bunch of custom Cisco behavior so your millage may vary.

Please remember to rate helpful responses and identify helpful or correct answers.

Yep done all that. But this is really a Cisco issue as its getting the firmware on the dam thing.
