Hi all, I have a problem when using Cisco IP Communicator remotely using a Cisco VPN s2s or VPN Client connection.
The CIPC registers without problem but the problem is that I don't have dial tone from the IPCommunicator.
I'm using an Cisco ASA 5510 v8.2 and a CME 7.1 in the main site and and ASA 5510 v7.2.2-k8.bin in the remote site.
I guess that it could be an issue with the ASA version in the remote site.
If anybody has any suggestions for me I would be grateful to hear them.
Thanks
David

Hi David,
CIPC plays dial-tone from local PC as long as it receives SCCP signal from CME. Better get sniffer on local PC to verify. There is possiblility that firewall is blocking some certain of Skinny messages.
Another quick question: Even we don't have dial-tone, can we still dial digits?

Hi Jing Hua, thanks for the response.
In the phone I can see the number and the softkeys but there is no response from the IP Communicator.
The CIPC let me enter the digits, but when I press dial, there is no response.
I have conectivity between the two sites connected trhough the VPN.
Thanks a lot.

Hi David,
I would suggest to put sniffer on your PC and launch CIPC and try to dial number. Your will see sccp packets exchanged back an force.
If still cannot figure out the problem by checking the sniffer I would suggest open a case with TAC to do further investigation.
Cheers
Jing
