I have a cisco 2851 switch where my 8 telephone lines (RJ-11) comes into it and it converts them into IP (RG-45) goes out

Now I have a fiber optic cable from the ministry of communication where my phone lines are configured, how can I convert the fiber optic cable to give me the 8 telephone lines (RJ-11).

Note: I dont want to change my cisco 2851 switch... is there any card in which i can upgrade it, or a convertor that the input will be fiber optic and output telephone lines.

You should be more specific, provide current config, installed modules etc.

Fiber optics could be used for miriads of applications, not sure which one you want.

Sorry for not being more specific..

I will try to ask the question in another way,

Does the Cisco 2851 router accept a LC connector?

The one I got only have RG-11 connectors where I input the phone lines from the ministry into it and then output them as RG-45 ethernet cables to my IP Phones.

As now the ministry is providing fiber optic cables, i want to upgrade the Cisco 2851 to accept LC connectors and output for me the RG-45 ethernet cables to my IP Phones.

Does it support?

Should I only upgrade it with a card slot that accepts a fiber optic LC connector?

Or I should buy another new router for this issue?
