cisco 6921 and 7965 phone with CME 4.0

Dear Concern,

My customer want to run 6921 and 7965 with their earlier deployed CME 4.0 (3845 with 12.4.9T IOS). They are unable to do so as i guess CME 4.0 doesnot support those phone set.What all farmware we need to download and install in this router to support those phone with CME 4.0? and let us know the procedure aswell.

I have gone thorugh few documnets and found CME 8.X / above does support those phone but we are afraid as CME 4.0 is running with 100 + phone.We dont want any interruption in running system.

you are true , V4 is so old , and it is not compatible for new IP phones and new featues . When you upgrade you just upgrade call manger express software , but you still keed your own configuaton.My advise to you to upgrade to the v8.5  because it supports the telepones which you mentioned and the new series like (9951,9971,8961)

Dear,

If i upgrade IOS (15.X) only, will it be ok ? as IOS is related with CME version. I am looking for another option such Firmware upgrade with currnet IOS 12.2.9 /CME4.0

Kindly be informed IOS 15.x is a new IOS which 15.x is for second generation routers and this ios based on license . The good scinario for that as i told you to upgarde your CME to  v8.x. .

Noted. Just to know, Is there any other way to accompilish the task ? Such by adding farmware of 6921 and 7965 phone in to current CME4.0.

Impossible , because the 6921 is new series and CME 4 is old , so it needs new version startng from v8.x.

So based on the above you will firstly upgrade the ios of router to cisco IOS 15.x and after that install cisco CME v8.x , please find the below links which confirm my conversation with you

1- You must have  an account which will allow you to download the required softwares , or you can contact with your distributer or reseller.

2-Prepae a TFTP sever and the softwares on it.

3- attach this server to your router (you can use port (fastethernet)  from  a router and connect it to the tftp server (ca be downloaded on your pc  , it is so small ).

4- firstly check your flash , if there is space

5- If you have a free size , start to copy tftfp server to your flash
