Hello
I have a remote Call Manager Express Router which has multiple 7942 IP phones registered to it. But one of the phones which was registered earlier has been reported to have gone "Unregistered".
When I do a show ephone it comes back as follows:
ephone-8[7] Mac:XXXX.XXXX.XXXX TCP socket:[-1] activeLine:0 whisperLine:0 UNREGISTERED
mediaActive:0 whisper_mediaActive:0 startMedia:0 offhook:0 ringing:0 reset:0 reset_sent:0 paging 0 debug:0 caps:0
IP:XXX.XXX.XXXX.XXX * 51283 Unknown 0 keepalive 0 max_line 0 available_line 0
button 1: cw:1 ccw:(0)
dn 4 number 189 CH1 IDLE
Preferred Codec: g729
Lpcor Type: none
When I ping the IP address of the phone i can ping it successfully:
Router#ping XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX, timeout is 2 seconds:
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/1/4 ms
I did a debug tftp and it shows the following:
Oct 12 12:16:57.065 UTC: TFTP: Looking for term42.default.loads
I have asked to do a factory reset of the phone and I am getting the feedback that the Screen Shows absolutely blank.
I have done a telephony-service shut and no shut and deleted the ephone 8 config and reinstated it again but without any improvement.
The config for the phone is:
ephone 8
device-security-mode none
mac-address XXXX.XXXX.XXXX
codec g729r8
type 7942
button 1:4
The log shows it had last registered a couple of days back.
Oct 9 14:45:52.078 UTC: %IPPHONE-6-REG_ALARM: 25: Name=SEPXXXXXXXXXXXX Load= SCCP42.8-3-3SR2S Last=Initialized
Oct 9 14:45:52.110 UTC: %IPPHONE-6-REGISTER: ephone-8:SEPXXXXXXXXXXXX IP:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX Socket:3 DeviceType:Phone has registered.
Oct 9 18:49:46.741 UTC: %IPPHONE-6-UNREGISTER_ABNORMAL: ephone-8:SEPXXXXXXXXXXXX IP:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX Socket:3 DeviceType:Phone has unregistered abnormally.
Any advices would be most welcome;
Is the phone gone faulty:
Many Thanks in advance.
Regards

Try create-cnf under telephony-service. The you can check with debug tftp events and term mon if the phones obtain its intiaql configuration file.
Note the ephone has not no ephone-template configured- That means it will show any possible softkey under any state, things is most likely unncessary, and confusing for the user.
