Hello,

I have factory reseted the phone by doing firts:

1) power off the phone (if using inline power, just remove the ethernet)

  2) hold the hash (#) button down

  3) supply power to the phone (if inline power, just insert the ethernet) while still

holding down the hash button

4) when the line buttons scroll down orange, you can take your finger off the hash button

  5) now press the following buttons: 123456789*0#

  6) the line buttons should continue to scroll, but now they should be red

  7) after about 60sec, this will change to green, and the phone should the boot up

correctly

then this:

If so and did not work for you, can you please try the following procedure again as below?

  1) power off the phone (if using inline power, just remove the ethernet)

  2) hold the hash (#) button down

  3) supply power to the phone (if inline power, just insert the ethernet) while still

holding down the hash button

4) when the line buttons scroll down orange, you can take your finger off the hash button

  5) now press the following buttons: 3491672850*#

  6) the line buttons should continue to scroll, but now they should be red

  7) after about 60sec, this will change to green, and the phone should the boot up

Now the screen is blank.

I have set a TFTP server up with the following files:

SCCP:

apps41.9-4-2TH1-1.sbn

Hi

Some time ago I had a similar issue with a phone and this was due the firmware being too new to allow the upgrade. The version of the firmware could not be directly upgraded to the latest version so failed. I had to upgrade to an interim version and then jump to the newest firmware after the first upgrade.

To perform the upgrade I used an old CUCM server I had but you should be able to use TFTPd which has a built in DHCP server.

To determine that the system was downloading the wrong firmware I had to make a strange cable to connect to the serial port on the back (RJ11). It was also asking for the default XML file for the phone (XMLDefault.cnf.xml) which you may need on your TFTP server as it will be looking for this file. You should be able to grab this from the CUCM server.

As an FYI, the cable I made connected to a Rolled cabled via an RJ45 coupler.

I can't find the website I used but looking at the cable I have the pinout as follows

RJ45 with clip on the bottom

left to right:

OrangeWhite|Orange|GreenWhite|Blue|BlueWhite|Green|Brown|BrownWhite

RJ11 with clip on the bottom

left to right

BLANK|Green|Blue|GreenWhite|BLANK

I have also found the following link which may ve helpful

Hio,

Thanks for responding.

Which one shall I downnload? SCCP or SIP? .cop.sgn or .Zip?

I am out of the LAB now, tomorrow I am gonna try it first with 8.x then 9.x

Hi

I would probably start with the same image type that is currently on the phone and them move to the other if this does not work. If you dont know I would go for SCCP but that is just personal preference.

 5) now press the following buttons: 3491672850*#

Did you use this method at all?  If you did, leave the phone powered up for 45 minutes.  This is a full-blown unit re-flash and can take up to 45 minutes.

Hi Istvan,

Solution 1:

If you have any CUCM, then configure the phone in CUCM and change the DHCP option to point it to CUCM TFTP, then the phone will be able to download the firmware correctly and will upgrade it fine.

Solution 2:

download a lower firmware like 9.0 something and modify the load information for that phone model in the CME and create the configuration files again. Reboot the phone and it should be able to upgrade the firmware and should register fine.
