Running CUCM 10.5,  and just purchased a 8831 phone. The keypad is stuck with the Cisco Logo and CUCM shows the following " Inactive Load Failure Reason Internal Phone Error"

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue:

New 8831 phones doesn't work with old firmware below 10.3 , you must have got a sticker on the phone box which says do not downgrade the firmware.

Try to force the load -SIP8831.10.3-ISR2-2 from phone config page and factory reset the phone.

refer the link which says :

Step 7   For phones that are running Firmware Release 9.3(3), perform the following steps.
  1. Select the file cmterm-8831-sip.9-3-3-TO-10-3-1-v2.cop.sgn, click the Download Now or Add to cart button, and follow the prompts.

you can download the file from below link

readme says

In order to upgrade from 9.3(3) version, intermediate firmware cmterm-8831-sip.9-3-3-TO-10-3-1-v2 should be firstly installed and upgraded.

Our system is 11.5.1.11900-26

do we still need to install cmterm-8831-sip.9-3-3-TO-10-3-1-v2.cop.sgn?

Hi Darin,

Yes, it still need to be installed as it is a phone intermediate firmware upgrade.

It has nothing to do with the CUCM version you are on.

Regards,

Hitesh
