I currently have a UC520 with 3 x Cisco 7975G phones. I need a few more phones. From what I can see, the 7975G and 9971 are about the same price, however the 9971 is newer. Is there any reason to stick with the 7975G?
The Cisco 7975 phone is a SCCP phone and colored. The 9971 phone is a sip phone also colored has bluetooth ability, wifi and video with the optional usb camera. The 9971 can support up to three KEM (Key Expansion Modules) where the 7975 is limited to two.
You will need to be sure your UC520 is running the later package files to support the 9900 and 8900 series phones. CME 8.5 or higher is required.
