Hi i am planning to buy a laptop specifically for installing the call manager on a laptop so wanted to know which specific model with the neccessary memory specifications would work out fine as well wanted to know what would be the exact procedure for setting up on the laptop for testing purpose.

Call Manager seems pretty flexible about running on VMware.
You must have an Intel CPU, AMD will not work.
Call Manager needs 1 virtual CPU core, 2 Gig of RAM, 80 Gig hard disk and a Bridged NIC.
I would think any new Intel based laptop would be OK. You should try for 4Gig RAM, 8 would be better and 64 bit Windows 7
3 Gig of RAM and XP will not work very well. XP does not leave 2 Gig of RAM free to run Call Manager.
