Hi,

According to the datasheet you can set up CME with a third-party voice mail

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/unified-communications/unified-communications-manager-express/datasheet-c78-737647.html?cachemode=refresh

Voicemail features

●  Integrated voicemail and Automated-Attendant solution with Cisco Unity Express
●  Integration with Cisco Unity Voicemail and Cisco Unity unified messaging, or third-party voicemail integration (H.323, SIP, or dual-tone multifrequency [DTMF])

im a student trying to learn

What do you have in mind?

If you have already the third-party voice mail check the documentation to see what type of integrations they support.

using freepbx for voice mail

Look at Freepbx forum that is lot of stuff there

I found this doc too:

This post will show you my sample configuration for CME Router and FreePBX as voicemail server. The freePBX is used as voicemail because is an open source and alternative to Cisco Unity Express.

I did the only thing i could not do is the message waiting due to i cant seem to find the file vm.sh it does not exist and i cant call the exension i assigned it 1139 and when i do the debug command it tries to call 1139 locally even though i created a dial-peer pointing it at the free pbx it ignores the dial peer

Hi,

Try to understand the dial-peers logic, review your dial plan configuration.

About the voicemail you need to look at freepbx documentation.

I did it like this destination-pattern 1139 the extension of voicemail i want to use on free pbx

dial-peer voice 1139 voip
description FreePBX
destination-pattern 1139
session protocol sipv2
session target ipv4:192.168.40.206
dtmf-relay rtp-nte
no vad

I got this to work with FreePBX ver 16.0.40.7 and Cisco CME ver 8.6. Here are my dialpeers:

dial-peer voice 1070 voip
description **TO FREEPBX**
destination-pattern 107.
session protocol sipv2
session target ipv4:172.24.0.68
dtmf-relay rtp-nte
codec g711ulaw
no vad
!
dial-peer voice 1071 voip
description **FROM FREEPBX**
translation-profile incoming FreePBX
session protocol sipv2
session target ipv4:172.24.0.161
incoming called-number 910[0-3].
dtmf-relay rtp-nte
codec g711ulaw
no vad
!
dial-peer voice 1072 voip
description **CALL FWD BUSY NOAN**
translation-profile outgoing VM_FORWARD
destination-pattern 50010..$
session protocol sipv2
session target ipv4:172.24.0.68
dtmf-relay rtp-nte
codec g711ulaw
no vad

Have fun!
