I have just found 10 cisco 7912 phones in a network closet that noone knows anything about. These new found phones do not seem to be working. They will light up with solid red and green lights on the led menu buttons. There are no messages on displayed just a blank screen. It looks to me as if they are stuck in the first stage of boot process. The port and network have been tested with positive results. Pressing the # and number does not do anything.
We have about 100 phones deployed in a CCM4.1 enviroment with no problems. Are these phones fried? Thanks

You can try doing a factory reset on them. You can google the exact steps, but basically you turn them on and as soon as the speaker light comes up you hit 123456789*0#.

No, the phones are not fried, just corrupted in firmware. Now, the reset sequence with # doesn't apply to 7912 (it would apply to 7911).
What you need to do, is to make sure your DHCP server supplies both option 150 and option 66 for the phones, and you have in TFTP a valid gkdefault.cfg that forces a reflash. The easier way to do this is using a router or a L3 switch, but even a PC with a software like tftpd32.exe would do.
Please connect your phones to an environment like described above, and get to the point where you see the TFTP request. After that with the "7912 tools" you can create above said file and the phones will take life again.
Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!
