We have tested the Cisco Paging server in our environment and have an issue. Almost every 8861 phone (wired, not wireless and using SIP) has a headset attached to it. The phone remembers the last device you used (handset or headset) when you last used your phone.
When you make a page using the paging server, instead of activating the speaker on the phone (the desired result) it defaults to the last device used, which most of the time will be the headset. Since it is playing your page through the headset, and if you don't have your headset on, you don't hear the page. This is a very bad situation if you are using this for emergency paging!
Does anyone know if this issue can be resolved? We are currently running CUCM 11.5.1 SU3b and phone firmware sip88XX 11-7-1ES-3.
Anyone have any ideas?
